I'm sorry that my rather blunt approach to a topic I'm familiar with upset you because it was aimed at your friend. I certainly understand the desire to defend those we're close to, but I hold no ill will toward him whatsoever. I'm merely stating facts. We would all do well to tread more cautiously in a place as volatile as this.
Nor did Kozume-kun need to apologize for doing something as normal, natural and human as making what he thought was a harmless wish. Yet he did, because it felt important to him to do so.
