It's not so much the difficulty of the work as it is... the difficulty of this reality.
Have I told you why my original practice here shut down? It's a rather ridiculous story, so it might give you some amusement while you deal with Akechi-kun!
To make a rather long, complicated story much shorter... Webby-san was concerned that someone she lived with at the time wanted to come to counseling. She tried coming to a session herself as well, to understand why someone would talk to a counselor rather than their friends or family about what was troubling them, but I suppose my explanations weren't sufficient. She has extensive history in espionage and decided it would be a good idea to use her skill set to listen in and ensure I wasn't doing anything underhanded.
Of course, this was a gross breach of patient confidentiality, so things spiraled a bit out of control once I found out.
All is well now. She learned from her mistakes, and I learned that the same counseling services I'd offer back in our reality don't exactly translate here. I've modified my approach significantly since then, and I think it's been much better for everyone... myself included.
To your earlier point, perhaps it wasn't healthy for me to only be seen as "the counselor" at all times, by all people. That was a hard lesson to learn!
[ That's a bit of a concerning read, even if Maruki's tone conveys it's water under the bridge. ]
I'm surprised she seemed that concerned, as her world sounds similar to ours, but with ducks.
[ But Webby is really young and seems quite sheltered. It's not as if Haru had shown the Phantom Thieves grace when they initially met either. ]
I'm very sorry to hear you went through that entire ordeal. I guess... I can understand why counselling might confuse her. I didn't see the exact point for myself, but I think that came from a part of me that simply did not want to face my own pain.
It's alright, Okumura-san. My patients at the time were the ones who suffered, having their privacy compromised. Any stress I went through was nothing compared to that.
Anyhow... you're right about that. It confuses almost everyone at first, both here and in our true reality. I don't mind helping someone understand why it's necessary.
Speaking of people who aren't interested in counseling - is Akechi-kun asleep yet?

Will you think badly of me if I say yes, it is?

It cannot be easy work, after all.

Why is that?

Would you believe me if I told you that a duck was spying on me?
I told you it was absurd!

Are you sure it was spying on you?

[ But who...
Oh. ]
Do you mean Webby-chan?

I don't want to color your opinion of Webby-san. We've made amends since then. It was a strange time for her.

[ Which doesn't bother her, simply because Webby is pretty young and very excitable. ]
May I ask what happened?
[ Maruki feuding with... a duck? ]

He's just lying there on his phone.
I think he is watching or reading something comedic. He was giggling before.

Well, try to close your eyes and get some rest. It's irritating that he won't sleep, but I'm sure he won't bother you otherwise tonight.
yeah....
I will do my best!
Thank you for keeping me company, Dr. Maruki.
