If the medicine meant to treat symptoms works as intended, yes. Which we don't yet know if they do.
There are also many other kinds of medicines: stimulants, tranquilizers, expectorants, diuretics, emetics, just to name a few...
Oh! And the necessary symptoms to test painkillers are easy enough to create ourselves.
